With “Friendship,” I was thinking about the rarity of deep friendships in the digital age. Although digital communication is great in lots of ways, there is plenty of evidence showing that overall, our friendships have suffered. I think it’s important to remember that friendships can pop up in unlikely places and we sometimes end up learning the most about our fellows when they’re very different from ourselves.
So don’t rule anyone out, even if they’re covered in green bumps and their stem is way longer than yours.
