I love pumpkins. Who doesn’t? So here we have the 2026 series, the Gourd Cycle.
This one, “Compassion,” was inspired by the relationship between mother and child. Of course pumpkins don’t give birth to live young, but I think a lot about this stage of life that some of us eventually find ourselves — if we’re lucky enough — when the parent/child relationship reverses. Not only do I find myself having new responsibilities caring for an aging parent but I’ve become more sympathetic towards my mother who undoubtedly had the same struggles with me when I was younger! Who relates?
