Confession: This crystal was stolen. Not intentionally — it was one of the Vermieterin’s tchochkes in our Berlin flat and the movers packed it up along with our stuff when we moved. But I’m not too sorry because I love cool rocks and this one always made me feel like I was looking at a tiny magical city out of Metropolis or something.
Painting something that is all different kinds of white is always a challenge, and that was the goal of this little oil painting. There is so much to see within this world of neatly-lined up molecules and how they all bend light. Super nerdy, super gorge.
This mini-city crystal is painted on a 10×10 cm hand-prepared gesso panel and framed, all ready to hang. Oh, and thanks for keeping my secret.
