Exhibition: "Ident-i-gration" in Berlin / by Schmoo Theune

After months of work, interviews, meetings, and Skype calls, Susann Tischendorf and I are so proud to say that our first solo exhibition will be officially happening in Berlin! This is an opportunity that we could not have wished for more, and the entire experience is as ideal a situation that any artist could ask for.

The exhibition will run from April 27th through June 6th, 2019, at Freiraum für Fotografie in Kreuzberg, Berlin. The opening will take place on Friday April 27th and we’re looking forward to seeing you there!

Additional Events

Throughout the course of the exhibition we will also give guided tours the first Sunday of each month (in both German and English), and GfHF is also providing a series of events around the topic of migration, culture, and identity with great guest speakers. Check out the GfHF website for more info.

Prisms —> Ident-i-gration

While the original title of this project was “Prisms” to represent the many layers of identity in each person, we agree that this didn’t work for an exhibition. It had to be something a bit more immediately clear to the public, and so we settled on “Ident-i-gration",” a twist on two words that came to me while visiting my sister in the USA. I love it, actually, because it’s clear it’s about identity, but is it about identification? Migration? Integration? You fill in the blank, because it’s really all this and more.

And… thanks

Thank you so very much to the 14 people who opened their lives, family archives, and their homes to us in the creation of this project. Both Susann and I adore stories that incorporate additional mediums and ephemera, and we understand the level of trust such generosity entails. You can see more as this project grows on the project website, 14prisms.com.

See you there!
